When I saw the blue and red combination you chose, my mind immediately went to Le Mans racing cars from the ’70s and similar classic race aesthetics. At the same time—don’t laugh—the color scheme also reminded me of Super Mario, specifically Super Mario Kart. So, I had two racing references in mind, which is why I placed the number in a white circle, just like the racing numbers you’d see on vintage race cars.

As for the “Bang Bang” sticker, it made me think of exhaust pipes and the explosive nature of a V8 engine—kind of a playful nod to that powerful imagery. I decided to go with slanted lines instead of the originally straight ones to give the design a more dynamic feel—since race cars are all about motion and speed, after all.

At the same time, I wanted the whole thing to have a DIY vibe, as if it were put together by someone with limited resources—maybe someone nostalgic about their beloved race car in a post-apocalyptic world. The tally marks were more of a free design choice, but they could represent races won with the car—or maybe songs learned on the guitar! Haha.
